We are excited to introduce the greenMeter, a new battery monitor developed to accurately measure currents. After over two years of development, we are proud to have achieved a measurement error of less than 0.04%.
New in the V2 Version:
Why is Measurement Accuracy Important?
In off-grid power systems, the challenge often lies in measuring relatively high currents while simultaneously accounting for very small standby consumers. These small consumers, which are present 24/7, significantly affect the accurate determination of the battery’s state of charge (SOC). A precise measurement is also crucial for detecting and preventing "leakage currents," which can impact the performance and safety of the battery system.
Losses in the Shunt?
More accurate sensors typically exhibit a higher voltage drop, leading to greater losses. The reason is that larger voltage differences across the shunt allow for better measurement. However, we've managed to keep the resistance very low. The losses are typically smaller than those caused by the losses in a fuse for the corresponding current, as detailed in the provided table.
Key Functions of greenMeter V2:
greenMeter V2 is a high-precision battery monitor that accurately measures current in both directions (bidirectional). It also measures the battery voltage through two sense lines. With the internal ampere-hour counter, it calculates the State of Charge (SOC) accurately. The two relay outputs can disconnect the load or charging process if the current is too high or if temperatures are too high or low. GreenMeter can be integrated into the positive line, unlike many other solutions. For separate measurement of charging and discharging currents, multiple greenSwitches can be used in the system. Targeted measurement of individual consumers is also possible. Up to 247 devices can be connected via the bus, making it highly flexible for different setups.
